My donor car is an '88 vintage 2.0LX Saphire in a rather tasteful metallic Blue. I bought it from a mate at work for £200 with certain MoT failiure looming due to advanced tinworm in the floor and sills. This might be a little over the odds, but it came with 4 good tyres, a Haynes manual and 4 months tax to claim back, which made it seem quite reasonable!
After checking the finer points of my car insurance I drove the beast round to my (very accommodating) parents house and parked it up for safe keeping. As the Greeny-Brown tinge shows this was to be a long term resting place while I started gathering other bits and pieces I need for the build.
